Nancy Kunstman RN, BSN, PHN, OCN
Nurse Manager
Born and raised in California, Nancy attended Contra Costa College and became a registered nurse in 1990. She began her nursing career on the Hematology/Oncology floor at Mount Diablo Medical Center and within six months was chemotherapy certified. In 1992, Nancy became an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) and has maintained her certification. After several years of hospital-based nursing, Nancy began working in this office, and became indispensable to Dr. Michael Messer until his retirement in 2007. During her full-time nursing schedule, Nancy returned to school at Holy Names University, obtaining a bachelor degree in nursing (BSN) and a certificate in public health nursing (PHN).
One of Nancy’s greatest strengths is patient teaching: she believes there is always time to explain a misunderstood subject or to answer a patient’s question. “I firmly believe that to teach is to learn and to learn is to grow, and by helping out one patient, we can help many.”
Nancy is an active member of the American Nursing Society, Oncology Nursing Society, Bay Area Oncology Nursing Society and the Association of Northern California Oncologists.
